BIOGRAPHY
:
Tom
Griffin, aka Griffin, was born in the USA in October 1970.
He grew up on the East Coast in Newport, Rhode Island
where his father was stationed as a Navy Pilot: Lt. Commander.
His love of music began at an early age listening to his
mother play the piano and sing. Tom often would come home
from preschool singing "Go Down Moses" with the utmost
expression.
During his elementary years in Sacramento, California,
his love of music & theory grew with the learning and
mastering of his first instrument, the clarinet. He was
in the elite band in elementary, and his study of the
clarinet continued throughout high school where he began
learning the guitar and the piano. "The piano and guitar
were able to familarize me with chords, modes, and intervals
at a new level," Griffin revealed.
In college, Griffin studied music and composition as his
minor. He sang with the ARC Chamber & Vocal Jazz ensembles
and toured with them to such venues as: The National Concert
Hall in Dublin, Ireland; and Carnegie Hall in New York
City. His songwriting began while attending college, where
his songs found new birth as lead singer for the alternative
rock band, Syngen Smythe . The band released an independent
album that was distributed domestically. It featured such
compositions from Griffin as: "Girl Of France", "Simon
Templar", "Across The Sea", "Teatime At Noon", and the
local soft-punk radio smash, "Sands Of Moscow."
After Syngen Smythe disbanned, Griffin moved to L.A. to
finish his college at Biola University and hone his songwriting
expanding into such genres as: Country, Adult Contemporary,
Contemporary Christian, and Pop. Many songs later, Griffin
returned to his home in Northern California in October
of 1993 to start the Pop/Rock A Cappella group, Boyz Nite
Out. With BNO, Griffin achieved great success producing
the now award-winning song, "Baby Doll."
He
is Boyz Nite Out's power lead, and he can demonstrate
this musical power on such classic BNO tunes as "Alive",
"Come Together", "With Or Without You"
and many, many others. Don't be fooled, Griffin can sing
incredible ballads as well on such award winners as: "I'll
Be", "When I Look In Your Eyes", and "Baby
Doll."
Tom
currently lives in Rocklin, California with his wonderful
and beautiful wife, Kimberly,
and his two daughters: Lia "Bear Bear" and Karina
"Bobina". They currently attend Adventure Christian
Church.
Tom
is now known in the music industry as TR
Griffin - his website can be accessed at www.trgriffin.com.
He has written and produced several CD's in his astounding
solo career including "Eternity", "Servant
Of God", "Purpose Of Life", "Fab",
"Jesus Saves" - and many more to come.
TR
was featured in Sacramento Magazine in October 2005 issue
- highlighting his rock solo career.
